Image taken at the start of a 50km hike along the cliffs of the Great Ocean road from Johanna Beach to the 12 Apostles. Quite a tough section of the track with the peaks and troughs but scenery is magnificent for viewing, not so good for photography as it turns out but a good experience all the same.

Beyond Blue

Happy New year to everyone. Been down the coast and mnaged to get down to the beach just as this thunderstorm cell was forming off the coast. When it moved inland it dropped 50mm in 20 minutes in a narrow band with reports of hail as well. Not to mention plenty of thunder and lightning. Pretty good Christmas present really. This was only one of several events for this evening which concluded with a sensational sunset, a bloody good Christmas in my books

Stormy Ridge

Another Friday night storm, love them. Great build up, then massive downpour, then calm. Unfortunately during this time I was stuck in the office but I noticed whilst cooking the barby that there might be another one on the horizon so in no real rush headed out to a ridge that I hadn’t tried before after an intuitive drive through some of the back roads of the southern Dandenongs. Came across this scene and waited for a bit, was happy with it, then the sun started filtering through lighting up the scene so fired off another round, happier again.

Yarra Flood

Noticed this scene earlier in the morning on the way to the previus post and returned later in the evening when the clouds had parted with some nice golden light setting off some of the reflected euc bark. This is normally a paddock but has spent quite a bit of this year under water. Great to see really.

Rainforest Island

Can’t help but shoot green at the moment, another 3inches of rain overnight and this stream is roaring, water everywhere. Forest floor is sodden and the place is fresh and alive. Took one series of images on this trip but have found plenty more possibles for another day. Even found a lyrebird feather which is a rare find indeed.

Liffey Lush

Long time between posts, friggin busy time for me trying to balance out lots of things. Here is a little scene from a recent trip to Tassie. The best composition was in the middle of the river, so I rolled up the strides and gave it a crack…..lasted about 30 seconds as the water was that cold that my bones ached to the point of thobbing pain, even 5 minutes after getting out. Must be getting soft. Haven’t been in water that cold since a white water rafting expedition in Canada.

Rainforest Cascade

Been to this location many times (one of my local favourites) and took Tony Middleton up for a look. This time though took a very handy photographic tool……gumboots……so more exploration was possible off the beaten track although it was wet with constant drizzle. Difficult shoot really, cleaning lens’, frozen hands and a wet arse…….plus a leech ear ring at one point but it was all worth it as this place is magic. Standing in the creek of icy water I captured this scene.
