The Station

Taken on the western side of the Flinders Ranges on  a sheep station that we were staying at, 75,000 acres, 4500 sheep. Margin country for farming at best but this year has been good. Big flood late last year and 40mm while we were there so they are thinking of adding some cattle.  This shot was taken as the sun broke through for a rare glimpse that day but it certainly lit up the place.

Ahh – top one Andrew ! Was this the evening after we met ? The light was so fickle and rare last week wasn’t it.

  4. Cheers mate, this was the night before. The light was certainly fleeting last week but going through the images now it gave up some good opportunities for the more moody images so not complaining!

Ahh cool – I’ll try and retrace where I was that evening… At a rough guess I think I was on the eastern side so it’s great to see how it looked over there. Fleeting is a great word for it, I loved seeing the region in this way for a change. Very moody and full of drama – no complaints either ! Can’t wait for the next trip.

      • Yeah, the night before was on the eastern side, just posted an image from that night. The night we saw you I didn’t take a photo, the light closed in. Can’t have everything your own way I guess!

I did end up staying further north the night we caught up, I was pulled up on a cutting of the road as you guys went past – I don’t think you saw me ? There ended up being some fleeting light which was pretty cool (i’ll post an image some time, a few tech issues atm). The following night I wanted to shoot this spot but there was no light for me at this spot for this trip. I recall getting great light there about 5yrs ago which makes me want to go dig up that work for a look.

    cheers,
